Great Frigatebird

Great Frigatebirds are common on Tern Island. They are masters of aerial maneuvering and get much of their food from chasing down other birds as they come back to the island with a full stomach. The Boobys or whatever bird that is chosen will be harassed into regurgitating the contents of their stomachs. The frigates are so maneuverable that they will usually catch the stomach contents before it hits the water. They have longer wings than the biggest albatross here but are so light they can stay aloft almost effortlessly. Their nests are mixed into all the bird colonies on Tern Island and they will take nesting material from other bird's nests if given a chance.
They also will dive on us as we work in the colonies and give us a pretty good thump on the head at times. Always when you least expect it!
